Netflix Is Putting A Hold On Users Sharing Their Accounts Other Than Family

Netflix subscribers in India can no longer share the Netflix password with people except their household as Netflix has ended the practice of password sharing in India.

Most of the Netflix subscribers share their accounts with other people. People give a share in paying for the streaming or one person pays it and others, with the payer, use the same account.

Netflix, like any other streaming service in India, is becoming a big name in the playground after setting its name on the world map. Now they are putting a limit to the account-sharing practice for Indians.

In a post, Netflix said that “ Starting today, we will be sending this email to members who are sharing Netflix outside their household in India. a Netflix account is for use by one household. Everyone living in that household can use Netflix wherever they are – at home, on the go, on holiday – and take advantage of new features like Transfer Profile and Manage Access and Devices.”

“We recognize that our members have many entertainment choices. It is why we continue to invest heavily in a wide variety of new films and TV shows – so, whatever your taste, mood, or language and whoever you are watching with, there is always something satisfying to watch on Netflix.”

The email makes it clear that a single Netflix account can only be used in a household. If any other person who does not belong to the household should transfer the profile and change their password.

Netflix subscribers must check who are all logged in to their account by visiting the security and privacy settings of their account and selecting the ‘Manage access and devices’ option. Then sign out of devices that ‘should not have access’ and change their passwords.

To set up a Netflix household, you can use the TV that you use currently to watch Netflix. The devices that use the same internet connection as this TV will automatically be a part of the subscriber’s Netflix household.

Follow these steps to set up the Netflix household:

  • Sign in to Netflix using a TV that is connected to your home internet.
  • Open the menu from the Netflix home screen on your TV and select Get Help and then Manage Netflix Household.
  • Click on the tab that says Confirm Netflix Household or Update My Netflix Household.
  • Now choose from the Send Email or Send Text option. As soon as you do that, a verification link will be sent to the account email address and phone number that you have registered with Netflix. The link expires in 1 minute, so be sure to act quickly after this. Also, in case you haven’t added both the email address and phone number, you will see only one option to verify.
  • Once you click on the verification link, select Yes, This Was Me. Then choose Confirm Netflix Household or Update Netflix House To Continue.

After this, a confirmation will be displayed on your TV screen and you will also receive a confirmation email.
