Flipkart coming with its Open Box Delivery system to stop scams from happening

This article is about an investigation of a scam number that can easily make anyone fall prey to it. It’s not so uncommon for customers to address their issues on Twitter and tag concerned people, groups, and companies. But things go wrong when in the name of helping, a Twitter account reaches out to you and pretends to be one you are trying to approach.

Here is the complete scoop

Something similar has been happening with the customers and one came to our notice when a Twitter user, Anir Chakraborty, shared something unusual that he saw on Flipkart. While choosing the variant of iQOO 11 5G he found that Flipkart is selling its 8GB and 12GB RAM variant. But the catch is that iQOO never launched the 12GB variant in India. When he tried to choose the 16GB variant it showed “The combination doesn’t exist”.

In comments, Flipkart came to respond and considered this issue. But with this came an unusual response from a Flipkart support name Twitter account with no verified blue tick. It wrote in the comments “FILIPAKT CUSTOMER SUPPORT 24/7 HELPLINE SERVICE CENTER SERVICE CENTER TALL-FREE NUMBER. 8240147934 CONTACT US”.

What happened when I contacted this fake Flipkart support number?

I went through this Twitter account and found out that it usually asks people to reach out to them whenever a user addresses an issue on Twitter regarding Flipkart. When I tried to contact this fake Flipkart support the executive barely sounded like an executive and first asked for the order id. Thereafter he went ahead to ask for the issue and mode of payment for the order. I responded to them with the late delivery issue and he asked me to wait so that call can be forwarded to the senior executive. While the call was on wait the “hold announcement” in the Bengali language suggested that they might be operating from West Bengal.

The senior executive sounded in a hurry and asked to download the TeamViewer Meeting app. I asked them to direct me on call but he said ” sir we will have to arrange a meeting immediately to solve the issue”. When he was asked if meetings can be arranged via Google Meet or Zoom he simply denied it. The TeamViewer Meeting has the feature of giving remote access which lets one participant control another participant’s device in order to perform a task on another device. Users unaware of this app’s features can easily fall prey to their directions which can lead to unauthorized access to bank applications and information.

Sometimes these fake support reach out to users even before the authentic one. These things not only tarnish the image of companies but also cause damage to users.

Brand Samsung is renowned in the field of technology. They and their subsidiaries are often in the news for their product launches or relevant innovative developments. However, this time, another news surfaced.

Recently, seven of their employees have landed in jail. They were arrested due to their illegal procurement of chip-related technology and innovation which they shared with Chinese companies, located in China. It is a grave crime to share company secrets with any other brand or individual as employees are expected to regard the confidentiality of the same.

SEMES Co. is a subsidiary of Samsung which works in the field of manufacturing chipsets and displays. It has come to the forefront due to this case. Earlier, a researcher at SEMES spent four long years in jail due to the illegal obtainment of cleaning equipment for semiconductors. The researcher also used similar tech in order to manufacture and export to China. The Suwon District Court looked after this case at that time. The company was also fined after this proceeding due to the researcher’s actions.

Fast forward to today, six other employees of the same company were arrested. These employees will face up to 2 and a half years of jail time. They were found guilty of being involved in technology theft. Apart from this, the ex-employees also obtained equipment design blueprints through misappropriation.

The ex-employees did not limit their actions to theft or stealing information. They successfully manufactured 24 semiconductor cleaning equipment blueprints and sold them to Chinese companies and firms. Their names have not been disclosed yet.

South Korea is a leading nation in the manufacturing of semiconductor technologies which is super important for most countries today. China is trying to steal as foreign nations have turned their back, especially after the Covid-19 crisis.

Bot Removal on Twitter

Twitter has undergone a significant change since Elon Musk took over as CEO. One of the most notable changes has been the removal of bots from the platform.

Prior to Musk’s tenure, Twitter was plagued by bots that were used to amplify certain voices, spread misinformation, and artificially inflate engagement metrics. However, since Musk has taken over, the number of bots on Twitter has decreased significantly, resulting in a more lively and authentic social media experience.

One of the main ways that Musk and his team have been able to remove bots from Twitter is through the implementation of stricter verification policies. By requiring users to provide more information about themselves and their accounts, Twitter has been able to identify and remove bots that were previously able to operate undetected.

Additionally, the platform has also been using advanced algorithms and machine learning techniques to detect and remove bots in real time. Another benefit of removing bots from Twitter is that it has made the platform a safer and more inviting space for real users.

With fewer bots to contend with, users can now more easily find and engage with content that is relevant to their interests. Additionally, the removal of bots has also helped to reduce the spread of misinformation on the platform, making it a more reliable source of information.

Overall, the removal of bots from Twitter has been a positive development for the platform and its users. Thanks to the efforts of Elon Musk and his team, Twitter has become a more authentic and engaging social media experience. As the platform continues to evolve, we can expect to see even more positive changes in the future.

Twitter Bans All of its Third Party Apps

Twitter has officially made it clear that the company is banning all of its third party applications. The company has also stopped providing API access to the third party applications.

Read more about it below.

Twitter Bans Third Party Apps

Twitter decides to ban all of its third party apps. The company, prior to making this decision had already stopped providing API access to many of its third party clients including Twitterrific and Tweetbox.

It was on the 12th of January, the third party apps of Twitter started to face issues. Since Twitter doesn’t have a proper communication department, the third party clients weren’t able to contact Twitter or wasn’t informed of why the API access was suddenly stopped.

It is on the 17th of January, Twitter came forward to give a clarity regarding the situation. As per what the company says, Twitter is “enforcing its long-standing API rules”.

It indicates that, no one will be able to use Twitter’s API or its content inorder to “create or attempt to create a substitute or similar service or product to the Twitter Applications”.

Twitter had recently updated its API rules last October in 2022 and there is no point in saying that the rules were long standing ones. The co-founder of Twitterrific also mentioned that, the third party clients of Twitter has always respected the API rules of Twitter for the past 16 years and hasn’t tried to break any.

The reason to why Twitter, led by Elon Musk, has taken such a decision is still not clear. However it can be understood that money might be a reason.

Ever since Musk took charge of Twitter, the company has been having a lot of issues and is being weighed down by debts. With the third party apps out, the company will also be able to provide ads to all of its users
