Indian Railways to increase booking capacity from 25,000 to 2.5 lakh tickets per minute from September 2023

On Friday ,Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in a post-budget press briefing announced that Indian railways is planning to increase the ticket booking capacity from September 2023 onwards .

Currently the booking capacity is 25,000 tickets per minute but now Mr. Vaishnaw stated , “ The plan is to augment this capacity to 2.25 lakh tickets per minute . This will require a servers at the back end . The IT infrastructure , including software , will have to be upgraded to ensure that the website runs on a faster speed .”

He said that the railways will focus more sharply on increasing the convenience of passengers during 2023-24  and also the safety features are being improved to ensure nobody can bypass the system to get tickets .

Also it seems like that now the booking of tickets and getting response to an enquiry would be quite easier for the Indians as while making the above announcement the railway minister also said that , “Our target is to increase the capacity by 10 times both for issuing tickets and attending enquiries . By September this year , the entire backend system will be upgraded . The capacity for attending queries will also be upgraded from four lakh per minute to 40 lakh per minute. “

Not only this , railway minister has also announced the introduction of “Jan Suvidha “ or public convenience stores at 2000 stations across the country . These stores will sell all items that passengers need for their daily requirement and during their journey .

Vaishnaw also said that they are planning to construct 1000 infrastructure projects during 2023-24 , a target has been set to lay new railway tracks for a distance of 7000 km  and 750 outlets will be opened at stations under One Station One Product scheme.

All these announcements were made by Railway Minister , after finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the highest-ever capital outlay for the railways in Union Budget 2023-24 at Rs. 2.40 lakh crore .
