China has been accused of data breaches at an international level several times and in parallel, to this concern India banned more than 30 Chinese apps. But it’s not only about the international users who are using Chinese apps and phones, even Chinese users are facing major privacy concerns.

Recently three researchers Haoyu Liu, Douglas J Leith, and Paul Patras have published a research report with the name ‘Android OS Privacy Under the Loupe- A Tale from the East”. This research is about the Chinese smartphone brands OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Oppo Realme sold in China that transmit sensitive data to various parties without consent.

For it, researchers worked on the OnePlus 9R, Xiaomi Redmi Note 11, and Oppo Realme Q3 Pro. They found there are an alarming number of pre-installed system apps on Android smartphones used in China which have been given dangerous privileges. This privilege enables third-party apps to have access of

Device Specific information
Location-specific information
User profile
Social relationship info

The combination of this information can be fatal for user privacy and security stated by the research. Users don’t get any choice to opt for such permission given to these apps. The analysis has been conducted for Android mobile devices sold in China. There is no reason to worry for International users.
