Xiaomi has officially announced the online launch date of MIUI 14

MIUI has officially announced its launch date to be 26 February 2023 for the release of MIUI14. It even tweeted that it would be an online launch event.

MIUI has been frequently updating versions as 1 version optimization 1 version redesign for years in the form of shell updates. After the MIUI 12 version, MIUI 12.5 and MIUI 13 were released as optimization versions. However, it now took the audience by surprise by announcing a completely new design language.

Apparently, in October 2022, Xiaomi began beta testing the Chinese update MIUI 14 Beta based on Android 13 for Xiaomi 12 and Redmi K50 smartphones. Gradually other Xiaomi, POCO, and Redmi smartphones participated as well. Only after the success of these tests has the release been announced. However, an official launch for India hasn’t really been revealed yet though sources presume it would be as early as March-April 2023.

Let’s now highlight the expected features of the upcoming update.

  1. MIUI 14 runs on the new MIUI Photon engine, which is based on the underlying Android kernel, opening it up to third-party app developers. Nonetheless, the performance of the system has been improved and its stability has been optimized.
  2. Alterations have been made to the MIUI architecture to ensure that all apps run smoothly. Xiaomi noted that MIUI 14 Photon Engine increases the smoothness of third-party apps by 88% and reduces their power consumption by 16%.
  3. MIUI interconnection with devices has been improved thanks to a new high-speed bus. Plug-in headphones are detected 50% faster, and image transmission speed during streaming increases by 77%.
  4. Changes have been made to the design of MIUI making the interface lighter which looks more interesting, runs faster, and is more stable. The new MIUI 14 offers a new feature called Super Icons. New widget formats have also been introduced.
  5. Xiaomi is seemingly working on adding a new ‘anti-fraud protection’ feature to MIUI 14.
  6. Even the Xiaomi ‘Clock’ app is likely to get a new interface.

In fact, on November 17, 2022, Xiaomi officially unveiled the MIUI 14 logo which looks more modern compared to the 13 version.
